I’m constantly on the lookout for effective skin-care products made from non-toxic ingredients. There are more and more options popping up everywhere, making it easier to find safe and effective skin care products. Some of my favorites are 100 Percent Pure and Primal Life Organics. However, I find that many of the products I love are outside of my budget if I use them on a regular basis.
In an effort to keep my skin healthy while staying within my budget, I decided to look into making my own products at home. One of my favorite products is the green coffee bean serum, which is effective at healing sun damage in skin and slowing down the aging process within cells. So, that’s where I started with my at-home beauty product experiments.
Coffee beans have been shown to prevent telomere damage and even to potentially lengthen telomeres when consumed. There is reason to believe that applying coffee beans/oil topically may have similar effects on skin cells in terms of slowing cellular aging.
The key was to find quality ingredients and safe containers. I created a very simply formulation for coffee bean serum that I am really happy with, and that’s what I’m sharing with you!
Blend equal parts coffee bean oil and argan oil in a glass dropper bottle and gently shake to combine.
To use, I place about 5 drops on my finger and gently massage onto my face, focusing especially on my forehead, temples, and under my eyes (avoid contact with eyes)
I use this every night, along with another oil I like to make (I will share that recipe sometime). I feel like I can see a difference in my skin and I really love the way it makes my skin feel.
